Statistics
In its statistical work, the Economic Commission for Latin America and the Caribbean (ECLAC) aims to promote the creation and use of internationally comparable, accurate and timely statistical information of relevance in the formulation, follow-up and evaluation of economic, social and environmental development policies in the region. This mission is based on three lines of action: (a) promoting best practices and disseminating internationally comparable methodologies; (b) providing advisory and technical cooperation services to strengthen countries’ technical and institutional capacities in the statistical field and facilitate horizontal cooperation and the sharing of expertise; and (c) carrying out methodological development activities (proposing and adapting indicators).

ECLAC Supports Honduras' Secretariat for Strategic Planning in measuring progress towards the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development
The Statistics Division of the Economic Commission for Latin America and the Caribbean (ECLAC) provided training to the team of the Department of Economic and Social Studies at the Secretariat for Strategic Planning (SPE) of Honduras. The training focused on implementing the international methodology for assessing progress towards the targets of the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development, including the application of a traffic light system to classify results.

National Statistics Institute, ECLAC, and UNFPA join forces to optimize the use of geospatial data in Paraguay
With technical support from ECLAC and UNFPA, the National Institute of Statistics of Paraguay is making progress in strengthening its Geostatistical Portal, incorporating new features aimed at improving its use in the design and targeting of key public policies, such as Zero Hunger and Che Róga Porã.

ECLAC and SG-SICA promote the development of a regional geoportal for the integration of geospatial and statistical data
Within the framework of the joint agenda between ECLAC, CENTROESTAD, and SG-SICA, a technical assistance workshop was held from May 27 to 29 to support the design of a regional geoportal that integrates statistical and geospatial data. The initiative seeks to strengthen the planning, monitoring, and evaluation of public policies in SICA member countries by promoting the use of open-source technological tools and successful regional experiences.
